Australia’s first long term accommodation for domestic violence victims was recognised in both the Pioneering and Housing Diversity categories at the inaugural Victorian Apartment Awards for Excellence.
Housing 60 adults and 130 children, this development, known as Viv's Place, offers studio apartments right through to 4 bedrooms.
The colour décor and palate by ARM Architecture was inviting and comforting for those families who are in a vulnerable position.
AAA CEO Samantha Reece stated that Launch Housing sourced 40% philanthropic donations before the government provided the remaining 60% funding.
"Viv's Place offers much needed wrap around services within the complex and the programme is highly supportive for families seeking to rebuild their lives.
"This is a model that AAA would like to see replicated across Australia and we invite all Government agencies, State and Local, to visit this fabulous home, which is leading the way with domestic violence."
Launch Bellfield and ARM Architecture were also recognised for a special commendation for Launch Bellfield, which provides social housing (Civic Leadership category).
